Google Messenger: Pleasant Design and Simplicity of Communication
The majority of people in this day and age prefer texting their friends, colleagues, and family members over calling. It is an extremely easy way to stay in touch with people in your life as you can send messages wherever you are whether you’re at work, home, or elsewhere.
While new applications continue to appear every single day, there are some apps that have already become extremely popular among users, such as WhatsApp.
When it comes to Google Messenger, it is a moderately popular app, but the majority of people that have installed it seem to like it judging by the high grade that it has gotten from users. Let’s take a look at the app in more detail.
Regardless of the messenger app that you prefer, functionality is an important aspect to consider as you will probably use the app on a daily basis. Google Messenger is an easy-to-understand app that provides you with the majority of features you may need to have enjoyable conversations with your friends and family.
With the help of this app, you can quickly send text messages to particular users or create group chats if the information needs to be shared with more than one person.
Just like many other messaging applications available nowadays, this instant messenger app allows you to send not only plain text but also take photos and videos directly from the app and share them with your friends. Besides that, you have an opportunity to record voice messages, which can be quite fun and convenient if you’re bored of typing.
The settings of the Google Messenger app also won’t represent a problem. You are able to choose the sound of your outgoing and incoming messages and set the app as your default for SMS and MMS.
There are also a number of advanced functions to play around with, so you can make various tweaks and personalize the app according to your preferences.
To use the editing tools, all you should do is tap on the message and hold it to see the menu bar with all the options. From here you can choose to share your message with other apps, such as Facebook, or direct it to your email. If you need to, you can also delete or copy and paste a portion of the message.
It’s hard to imagine a messaging application without some sort of emojis, and Google Messenger doesn’t disappoint. There are a number of fun stickers and emojis for you to choose from depending on your conversation.
The collection can easily be accessed by tapping the attachment button on the side of your screen. Once you tap the button, you will be able to see several rows of stickers, but there are a lot more when you swipe up. What is also great, there is a wide range of animated stickers, which are quite entertaining.
Besides the mentioned functions, the app also gives you a chance to quickly send your location, which is incredibly useful if you want to meet up with someone without having to explain where you are.
To do that, you have to tap the attachment button and find the location icon in the list. What is great is that once you share your location with someone, a person will also receive a link to open the location directly in the Google Maps app.
Overall, the application is definitely worthy of your attention if you want to try a new messaging application, as it provides you with almost anything you may need for a comfortable texting experience.
When it comes to the design of this application, it appears to be quite colorful because of all the bright icons located beside the names in the contact list. You will notice that if a name of a person in your contact list is, for instance, Anthony, there will be a large “A” in a colorful circle to the left of the name.
It should be noted that this will happen only if you don’t have a user’s photo. The colors are automatically chosen by the app, and if there are several names that start with the same letter, the colors will be different for each one. In contrast to the bright icons, the background is white, thus making sure that the app doesn’t look cluttered.
As it was already mentioned, the application is certainly easy to use thanks to its intuitive interface and it also works smoothly on Android devices. All you have to do to start a conversation with another user is tap the plus sign icon and enter either the person’s phone number of their name.
If you need to send some attachments in your message, you can add a photo or other files by pressing the paperclip icon located at the bottom of the screen. Once you tap the arrow icon, your message will be sent. Overall, the process is not much different compared to other messengers, because if it works, why change it?
Cross-platform use 7/10
Unfortunately, the app is only available for Android devices (4.1 and later OS version, whether you have a tablet or a smartphone), which is why it doesn’t get the highest grade. There is a chance that developers will eventually create Google Messenger iOS, but currently, you can’t download it from the App Store.
The application is absolutely free, so you can expect to enjoy all its features without having to purchase anything.
Google Messenger is certainly a solid messaging application, which will not overwhelm you with dozens of unnecessary features. While some of the functions could be improved to help the app stand out among its more popular competitors, it’s easy-to-use and a lot better in comparison to the majority in-built messaging applications.
If you’re looking for a simple app with a pleasant design and the majority of features you may need, you should download Messenger and give it a try.
